JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sepsis Performance Improvement Manager provides leadership and coordination of evidence-based activities to support improved care for the Sepsis patient population through early identification and treatment. Supervises, facilitates, develops, and coordinates the clinical and educational strategies of patients. Ensures high quality and cost efficient care that is in accordance to the organization's vision for the identification and management of severe sepsis and septic shock. The position will be collaborative with all members of the health care team through consistent daily clinical patient rounds to assist in the planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of care delivery for sepsis patients. The Sepsis Performance Improvement Manager is responsible for assuring all sepsis standards are met as required by accrediting agencies, and monitors and implements change that positively impacts quality performance of the sepsis initiative by staff and licensed independent practitioners. Collaborates with the clinical documentation specialists to help with appropriate documentation to optimize coding.

This position is to provide expert guidance and consultation to nursing and other staff in a CHRISTUS Spohn healthcare system, related to evidence based practice measures, performance improvement and CMS compliance related to Conditions of Participation, including but not limited to, those standards related to complaints and grievances.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license with the ability to obtain permanent license in TX.
  • Exercise judgment within the guidelines of the medical plan of care, policy and core measures.
  • Expertise in quality data abstraction, data analysis, and improvement strategies.
  • Experience in design of data collection systems.
  • Working knowledge of peer review criteria, The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • A minimum of five years of direct care nursing experience strongly preferred.
